Environmentally Friendly
Hotels
At Moonstone Hotel
Properties our passion is gardening. Each of our hotels, resorts and
inns feature a garden theme, and many have extensive gardens and
grounds. Our love for the outdoors and the
natural beauty of our
varied locations
inspire us to be the best stewards we can be in the environment in which
we live. Here are just a few things that we do to be environmentally
friendly:
Toiletries – At
many of our hotels we use wall-mounted dispensers for shower gel, hair
shampoo and conditioner. The use of these dispensers reduces the amount
of amenity packages that are sent to landfills each year. The use of
these dispensers in a fifty-room hotel can stop over 1,000 packages from
entering landfill each year.
Organic Kitchen Garden
– At Cambria Pines Lodge, we have a
CCOF-certified organic kitchen garden.
The delicious, healthy vegetables, herbs and salad mixes grown in this
garden are harvested by hand and served fresh every day in the
restaurant.
Water and energy
conservation – Many of our hotels feature low-flow toilets, which
use only 1.6 gallons of water per flush, and aerated shower heads, which
use only 2.5 gallons of water per minute. We employ water conservation
practices in our irrigation systems and operate energy- and
water-efficient laundry facilities in many of our hotels. Many of our
guest rooms include compact fluorescent light bulbs.
Laundry - The
laundry facility at Cambria Pines Lodge which handles all the laundry
for all our Cambria Properties uses Ozone technology along with water
reuse. This saves not only water but also gas and electricity.
